Original attempt at colouring the piece involved photographing coloured acetate in front of a light. 

I then designed a pattern inspired by nature and cut it from paper, using different coloured acetate to give different effects.

I then used the photographed patterns to colour the original image. The end product was a bit hectic and the quality of the black outline wasn't as strong as the original. 

Combining both the plain acetate and the coloured patterns, I chose a different Photograph of the original which was darker and coloured it by mixing the two techniques. 

I then added a background that I thought would be make the colours stand out more and to bring the composition together.
