One day i was contacted by a blankets company in Guimarães (one city 50 kms from Porto).
The name of this company was "Macal", the industrial facilities were amazing... everythingwas white with great design furniture; The client presented themselves as a high quality blankets producer, they even told me that one of the main clients they have Is Philipe Stark design Hotels around the world.
The goal was to present in a big fair in Paris they're production with some packaging/concept solution.
The meeting goes over three hours and in the end i was presented with ten samples of blankets, the samples were all white with no drawings or patterns, only the composition is different, (33% cotton/67% acrylic).
In my way to the studio i ended with ten white A4 cuted pieces of blankets all seem the same!!
I accepted the challenge without Knowing what to do.
During de 50 kms journey to the office, i thought how important are "the quality of our dreams",
and there was the main concept!
"WE CARE ABOUT THE QUALITY OF YOUR DREAMS"
The same day at de office we made a brain-storming around this concept,
the project come to be a box of dreams in numbers, dream one, dream two...
after a research of poems about dreams, we decide to illustrate each poem with an abstract interpretation.
The final result was a white card box with the concept in one side "WE CARE ABOUT THE QUALITY OF YOUR DREAMS"and the images on the other, with the logo on the top.
When we open it, we have 10 spines with different colours and the product identified as dream one, dream two...
Then we pick a colour and a folded white card comes with a poem (UV varnished text in the front), in the interior
there was our abstract illustration for the poem with the A4 cuted piece of blanket and the composition below.
The project was a success in the fair in Paris, and in the end i felt like a movie director turning blankets in to dreams.
