A typographical pattern used as a background for my web site
Black and white treatments imitating ink drawings. The rope is made using a pattern brush.
This imitates different paper looks like quilled paper, cut-outs and flipped edges. It uses blends, shadow effects and masking in Illustrator.
Painting with letters
The »Super Circus« is completely done with Illustrator appearances: effects, brushes, strokes, fills (bottom: outline view). I have written a tutorial about this on the Astute Graphics weblog.
