THEME
The vertical development of the Cellular Tower wants to act as a new landmark of the urban landscape of the city of Milan:
- Expression of city as nature
- Minor land consuming
- Infrastructure as element of the environment
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PROJECT AND GEOGRAPHIC CONTEXT
The tower is placed in the intersection of two systems:
- The Green system:
- The east-west axis that connects the city center to the agricultural park in the south
- The north-south axis that draws a green line on the edge of the city and the country, connecting the agricultural south park with the one in the north
- The Infrastructure system: as point of contact between railway and subway
THE TOWER
-The generating element of the building is the landscape
-Experimental agricultural production as a source of economic activities in the market
-The study of new technologies for agriculture on the internal crops that respect the suburban countryside, find place in the laboratories
-The design of liberation of the soil to return to an artificial green, and the desire to increase the efficiency of infrastructure involves the junction of rail and subway system
EXPRESSION PROJECT
The location near the agricultural park south wants to put the Cellular Tower as a cultural outpost of growing environment attention coming in with a strong message in connection with the other tall buildings of the city.
Inside are placed the research centers to realize the commitment to the natural world.
The portion of the building faces south is devoted almost entirely to the greenhouses and hydroponics crops.
The location near the agricultural park south wants to put the Cellular Tower as a cultural outpost of growing environment attention coming in with a strong message in connection with the other tall buildings of the city.
Inside are placed the research centers to realize the commitment to the natural world.
The portion of the building faces south is devoted almost entirely to the greenhouses and hydroponics crops.
RESPONSIVE SKIN
The coating, representing the image of plant cells examined microscopically, and the idea of a big trunk that has its roots in the intersection between park, city and infrastructure, aims to reaffirm with force the connection to the natural world.
The texture of the coating is treated differently depending on the fronts:
- The north-east front, facing the city, where the openings are smaller, wants to return the monolithic of building in a monumental idea
- The south-west front, which overlooks the park, has larger openings, which allow, together with the gradual rotation of the building, a greater use of natural light useful to the greenhouses and terraces
STRUCTURE
It is based on the concept of the tube in a tub:
- Internal structure: coincides with the core, where the vertical links are inserted, and the partition that going to define the internal space of the building
- External structure: coincides with the cellular skin

SUSTAINABILITY
To realize the commitment to the natural world, the tower is equipped with energy-saving systems:
- The two basins for the collection of rainwater, which is recycled for irrigation of internal crops
- Internal system of energy production in biomass
- Wind turbines, placed on the roof of the building
