MONSOON
The Gora Kabristan, located on main Shahrah-e-Faisal is Karachi’s oldest Christian Cemetery. With a history of over 100 years, the Gora Kabristan was consecrated during colonial rule in 1843.

Over time the condition of the cemetery has deteriorated. Gora Kabristan, which was once a clean and peaceful resting place for the departed is now in a very pathetic and dilapidated condition.

Every year the graves are submerged in rainwater, which accumulates in the monsoon and takes months to be drained out. Adding to it is a continuous flow of sewage in the cemetery grounds, 8 feet high weeds and garbage piled up over a large area of the cemetery.

The graves and tombstones erected with much love and affection for the dearly departed now stand in isolation; disfigured, broken, vandalized and stolen.
