Three exposure HDR. This was taken in a shut down steel forging factory. In this image I tried to capture the immense size and scale of the factory while also capturing captivating qualities. The simple structures that show decades of wear and tear, weathering, and decay caught my eye.
Three exposure HDR. One of the few machines that is left at the steel forging factory. This is a steel forging press, that is over 70 years old and has produced millions of steel products. A man that is in charge of the building was nice enough to show me how the machine works and ran it for me. The large magnitude of the machine was captivating to me as it stood nearly 35 feet tall. I found it beautiful the way that the motion of the machine is captured in this photograph, especially in the belt and two spinning wheels. I also wanted to capture the textural qualities of the machine, to show all of the abuse and years it has been through in the factory.
Three exposure HDR. This is another large scale machine at the factory. In this photograph, my main intention was to convey the large scale of the factory in comparison with the machine. I wanted to capture the immense scale and nature of this factory that once was home to over 1,000 factory workers.
A recreated environment using several RAW  images. I only metered my scene once to allow exposure differences in each photograph, allowing some to be over or under exposed. I wanted the scene to look real from far away, but once viewed up close I want the viewer to be able to notice subtle nuances such as alignment problems and different exposures. The several images of myself represent my childhood. It is representative of the first warm spring day of the year and how my friends and I would always go outside to play. We were fearless and would always climb things and explore.
