In 1988 while working at Levy Industrial Group one of our clients was the Mon Valley Initiative located above our offices on West 8th Avenue in Homestead. I was given permission to photograph a new initiative at the time, to turn the Carrie Furnace site into an education center to preserve our steel industry heritage. It's still in the works today.
These images are scanned slides from that day. Up till this point very few people had been inside the area—this was a great priviledge for me that I still cherish after all these years.
