MSc Product Design: Haiku Egg Cup
This project was the first undertaken as part of the MSc and the brief was simple; design a receptical for an egg with a haiku like principle, that is, that the resultant product must have a sort of poetry and be more than the sum of it's parts.
I approached this project as a sharing experince. An egg is quite a lonely and solitary thing to eat, yet many cultures use meals and eating as a source of social interaction, so why not design a product that is supposed to be sold in multiples and interact with one another, and create something that could be seemed beautiful?
The product of this is the Enfold Eggcup. A pair of egg cups that can be seen to enfold or envelope the egg, caressing it whilst holding it. But when used in multiples, the products take on a whole other quality of inclusion and acceptance of each other. Love was the message.
