Italian through and through. She taught me how to make coffee, how to make tomato sauce, polpettine and lasagne. She taught me what it means to be a woman. How to behave and walk, what to wear for special events. She taught me what she valued most. Her husband, her family, her children and their health. And her belief. Since I was a child my grandmother would tell me all the stories in the bible. She would pray for me when I was ill and preach the values of fidelity and marriage vows. Even though I never turned out to be as religious as she is, I did appreciate the prayers and the lessons she tought me.

Since I can think my grandmother wanted to teach me how to make pasta. After all a proper house wife knows how to do linguine.

Before she would forget how to do pasta I had to learn how to do it. So I might teach her when her memory is gone forever.

She brought me up to become a young woman who holds her head high and who is afraid of nothing. She made me what I am today. I hope she will still remember that when forgetting my name.
