Flavour! Customize Style Guide

The overall layout for this assignment was influenced by the style guide created for Animal Planet.  Good use of color, play on horizontal lines and use of black and white.  For this page, I continued to work with the shape that is in Flavour! logo a pentagon. This shape outline can be seen on various pages. This specific layout makes great use of the two-page spread, with touches of color from the palette.
This two-page spread highlights the company. This includes a brief rundown on the Customize theme, the experience that one should achieve from this product, the look and feel as well as style, including textures, fonts, shapes and colors. The colors and imagery chosen featured on this page are part of the original static moodboard for Flavour!  They give a small glimpse at what’s ahead, sparkles, color and customization.
The right page is split in half by the pentagon angle from the master logo.  This shows the master logo in black and white, which allows the viewer to get a complete visual of the logo design.  I added Flavour! in a large size with angle on the other page, this helps to fill in the white space while continuing to add to the over all look and feel of the book. The cream color used with the angle of the pentagon also comes from the Master color palette.
These colorful pages ended up being placed next to each other. To better showcase the color section, I decided to divide the page horizontally.  This allows the colors and variations to be seen on both white and black at the same time, this will maximize impact for viewer. As a rule of thirds, directly in half would not have been smart visually, therefore I decided to go slightly lower then half up the page, this will also allow enough room for titles and any additional information that may be needed.  The color splats on the left were originally used on the static moodboard. When thinking of customizing, i thought about someone painting walls in their house, this is what made me chose color splats to display the master color palette.  On the left hand side of the page these are logo variations, they are approved logo variations for the brand, this helps give the viewer and idea of what’s possible.
This page also features the Flavour! name on the left hand side, this is again to help break up the page and add additional look and feel throughout the book.  Adding in elements that stay the same can also help create consistency, which can help viewers feel complete about the designing process. On the right side of the page features the breakdown of the master logo.  This page is visually beautiful and clean.  It flows and leads the eyes through the process of what the logo is and how it is broken down.  This part is a crucial addition to a style guide so that any individual can understand how to properly use the new logo.
This is a slight variation to the white pages of the book featuring Flavour! on the left.  This keeps up with consistency but also adds freshness because it is slightly different then the others.  On the right we have, the page broke up again with that same pentagon angle from the original logo.  This gives the page a great focal point which helps direct the view and allows them to take in the information on that page naturally. Master font choices are clearly labeled and a small alphabetical example is shown.
In this book after the basic logo usage pages, I decided to add a print example section.  This gives a run down of basic rules to follow as well as visually shows the viewer what is expected of them.  In the design world, words sometimes are not as powerful as imagery.  When needed and able, adding in small pieces like this can help drive home the point of what to do and what not to do.  The basic rules are that the logo is to be visible at all times, if not on an item then a logo is placed in the scene. Colors are to be vibrant and the word Gourmet is always to be used.
