#Dear18YearOldSelf - A WKWSCI Promo Video

Based on a student-led survey in 2013, 84% of the interviewees came from Junior Colleges. Hence, I would like to focus on this specific group of target audience as they make up the majority of the cohort. I have chosen video as my medium to promote our school on the WKWSCI Website and Openhouse Facebook Page. It should be posted after the release of the A level results, 4th March 2016.

Based on a 2015 survey, most of prospective students find that visuals are more helpful to their research, especially the #ASKWEE series and the top platform used for pre-admission information is the WKWSCI website, followed by the Openhouse Facebook page. Most of them heard of WKWSCI through the actual Openhouse, so it will be a good idea to play the video on the day itself.

It is also interesting to note that Specializations and Student Culture are among the top considerations when comparing WKWSCI to other Universities. Hence the content that I produce would focus on promoting these points.
I was inspired by Youtube's #DearMe campaign in mid-2015, where women gave advice to their younger selves to ease the worries of teenage girls struggling with various issues. I thought this concept can be rehashed for prospective students who are at one of the major crossroads in their lives.

With the benefit of hindsight, I think we all have some golden nuggets of advice to share to our younger selves. Looking back now, what would I say to the 18-year old me who have just received my A level results? What would have intrigued me to be a part of WKW?

I directed the interviewees to give personal recounts of their time in WKW, with specific instances of what they have experienced or achieved, for example, Fabian sharing his Nanyang Chronicle experience and developing his writing portfolio, Ethel sharing about her overseas exchange, etc.

At the end, I hope to portray Wee Kim Wee students as a welcoming, passionate and genuine bunch. I think the video has a strong potential in hitting the right notes and the balance between heartwarming and inspiring for future freshmen. I included a call to action at the end: “In hindsight, your WKW seniors have wonderful experiences to share to their younger selves. Would you have the foresight to join them? “, juxtaposing who they are and what they can be.
