Fundada por Rudy VanderLans e Zuzana Licko, a Emigre foi uma revista independente com foco no design tipográfico, fotografia, imigração e diagramação descontruída. Sua primeira edição foi em 1984 juntamente com o lançamento do Macintosh, desde sempre utilizado na criação de suas fontes. Durante sua atividade promoveu a expansão do design tipográfico criando mais de 300 fontes e promovendo o trabalho de diferentes type designers em todo mundo. Sua estética não padronizada foi revolucionária na época de suas publicações. Teve sua última publicação em 2005 entrando para a história do design gráfico.

Founded by Rudy VanderLans and Zuzana Licko, the Emigre was an independent magazine focused on typographic design, photography, immigration and deconstructed layout. Its first edition was in 1984 with the launch of the Macintosh, always used in the creation for their types. During its activity promoted the expansion of typographic design creating more than 300 types and promoting the work of different type designers worldwide. Its non-standard aesthetic was revolutionary at the time of its publications. Was last published in 2005 entering into the history of graphic design.
