Originally designed for Fuhu, creator of the Nabi children’s tablets.  Heirloom is an upbeat, light typeface that can be used as either headings or body copy.   

The inspiration for the typeface is in fact an heirloom tomato, hence the name.  When researching the company, they related closely to the heirloom tomato. First, I tried using the children’s tablets Fuhu designed as inspiration, but to create a more interesting typeface, I looked toward the tomato.  Seeing the curves, the seeds, and the stems as possible pieces of the typeface.

Tomatoes also served as inspiration for additional elements, like the typeface sample booklet and character map poster.  ​​​​​​​
