X3 (cubed) is an interactive abstract representation of my inner psyche. For years I have grappled with extreme self consciousness to a paralyzing degree. The goal of my sculpture is to evoke feelings of discomfort and self-consciousness within the viewer. Spectators will enter the sculpture, upon which they will be greeted by a two-way mirror. This creates the effect of visibility from the inside out, while the outside face appears to be an opaque mirror. The two-way mirror will give the people inside a false sense of vulnerability, akin to the feelings I experience every day. Additionally, I created several two-way mirrored box helmets for outside spectators as I have grown to learn the ubiquity of this condition.
