Download this After Effects template with accompanying Adobe Illustrator file to load your app screens into a stock video.
Troubleshooting images included in the zipped folder. Instructions below.
Unzip the iPhone App Screen Display Template.zip file. Simply load the Adobe Illustrator file (.ai) and paste your app screen images in place of the branded placeholders then reload the Adobe After Effects file (.aep) and render your video. (Render time is approximately 15 minutes on a machine with 16GB RAM)

If the link between the After Effects file and Illustrator file breaks, just right-click the Project tab as shown below and relocate the file.
If you intend to replace the images, please make sure your files are
640 px X 1136 px.
If the tracking layer of the After Effects file links to the wrong layer (ie the thumb or the raw footage layer) click on the Motion Target of the Track Layer(as seen in the second image below) and reset it to the "Screen Image" Layer.

The original stock footage featured a plain green screen, but by using the Perspective Four Pin motion tracking feature of after effects and frame-by-frame adjusting the pins to cover the screen, I set the top image to automatically appear as if it were on screen. In addition, a roto-scoped copy of the user's thumb appears on top of the screen for realistic interaction.
Much like when working in web development, any linked files (in this case the Adobe Ilustrator file containing the simulated screen image) will break if the file is moved to a new directory.
After Effects will automatically apply the Motion Track effect to any layer placed on top of the tracking layer, therefore it is important to double-check the target of the effect if any layers are added or moved.
