ReaperPain : The14th Soul
For this novel, I wanted to create a story about a characterwhose ‘soul’ purpose is to reap these fourteen demons of pain that aresearching for their ideal hosts.
The story goes that these ideal hosts are marked from birthwith a number on their bodies that appear as a birth mark. When the hosts are at their ideal age, thedemons will seek out their hosts to unleash their full power of darkness on theworld.
The main character for the story, instead of being possessedby his demon however, had a pact that in order for him to give up his body tothe demon, it must help him reap the other demons so that they do not harm theother 13 souls. To help him in this journey, the demon offered him, its ocularabilities, which allow the character to see spiritual energy. Through the guidance of the demon, he was able to find a demon slaying armor, Manodi Dio ( God’s Hand) that absorbs demonic energies that it comes into contactwith.
The demon, to ensure its safety from the weapon, bound itsself to the character so if it is destroyed, so too would the character.
The journey so begins with Darren, code named Reaper in hiscar being guided by the 14 th demon, Sangue (Blood) to save the 7 thSoul. On reaching the home of the 7 th Soul, Reaper is greeted by ahouse in darkness.
Using Mano di Dio, he senses strong demonic energy up on thesecond floor. Turning down the corridor,sensing more darkness, Reaper uses hisocular ability to prepare him for the battle to come.
On entering the room, it seems the 7 th Soul hasalready succumbed to the possession of its demonic counterpart. A dialogue between Reaper and the demon whoannounces its name as Mani Mortale (Deadly Hands), where Reaper is demandingthe demon to release the 7 th Soul.
Refusing Reaper’s request the demon’s back begins to rippleand shoots across the room, tentacles directly at him.
Instantly, Reaper unleashes Mano di Dio that floods thespace in white light, that retracts to show the full glory of the armor andrepels the hands.
In it’s true form, the demon is astounded that he has thedemon slaying armor and attempts to make a hasty retreat by teleporting intothe ceiling as soon as Reaper throws his God’s Hammer to the demon.
Mani Morale beginstaunting Reaper and bragging of how weakthe 7 th Soul was in its attempt to break from the bond, even willingto give up her boyfriend, whose corpse now lays in the very room after hemade her watch it kill him.
Reaper using his ocular ability, tracks the energy flow fromthe ceiling to where the demon intends to spawn next. He charges in powering uphis fist with the armor’s energy.
A shot from outside the house, shows a rupturing tower ofenergy that blasts through the roof and fills the entire house in light. Itreturns back to a shot of Reaper with his fist buried into the body of ManiMortale that lay in a crater that shot through to the bottom floor of this house.
In his hands, Reaper pulls out the possession item used bythe demon on the 7 th Soul. As he absorbs its power into to Mano diDio, The 7 th Soul unboundsfrom the body and dissipates after thanking Reaper for his aide.
As the power of Mano di Dio reverts into the bracelet,Sangue reappears next to Reaper informing him that the 5 th Demon hasawaken and is pursuing his host.
Walking back to his car, a shot of Reaper as the 14 thSoul is made visible on his neck.
