Primary Book Display was born out of a RISD sculpture course I took during the Winter of 2016. Class discussions revolved around the intersection of furniture and fine art, which lead to my investigation of how a 3D form such as a cabinet can become a piece of 3D painting. The front facing grid of the display is based off of Ad Reinhardt's black paintings. My use of primary colors speak to the theme of play through indirect illumination. The green triangular feet give the illusion that the cabinet is supported by two triangular planes of color as apposed to traditional furniture supports.
