Architecture of Life

Architecture of Life

For a while now I have been developing ideas revolving around dichotomies such as the organic and inorganic, the seen and unseen, real and surreal. When I thought of what the architecture of life meant to me, immediately I thought of the “building blocks of life” in a more scientific fashion, as well as the elements of air, water, earth and fire. Although a very simplified and perhaps not directly scientific idea of the elements of our universe, these four elements are a pervasive concept and evoke very concrete imagery for all people. Though neurons are shrouded in the darkness of the skull, they "light up" and are activated by the information from the world. Through this series I wanted to engage with these elements visually in a way that was unusual, “zooming in” on them like a magnifying glass, studying them in detail, and presenting them to the audience in a way that they might not normally think of them.  I am greatly interested in the intersections of art, science, the mind, and spirituality. These pieces are sort of the start of an exploration I want to embark on in this direction.
