Meet Bombaloo- a seemingly threatening but gentle creature of the deep. A figure of aquatic royalty who was seperated from his family at birth, Bombaloo lives his life on the streets of New York, surviving only on cups of coffee from Starbucks and by avoiding humans.
I discovered Bombaloo while taking a wintersession course called creature creation at the much loved Big Nazo Lab in Providence. There, I learnt how to create creature costumes using foam and to bring them to life by simply mixing latex and acrylic paint. The following images are process images to display my work throughout the term that led me to my eventual introduction to Bombaloo.
This creature was my first experiment with foam and staples to create three dimensional shapes and an eventual creature with eyes and emotions.
Experiements with foam were then followed by sketches and ideas for a final creature.
