During this project, I was responsible for the character design, design of the egg and the animation of the dragon. Naomi Pendery was responsible for backgrounds and animation of the background. Joint responsibility for the story.
Initial story ideas for this project. We originally wanted our dragon flying over landmarks of the world, however we found that this was quite boring because there was no transformation which would create the beginning, middle and resolution of the plot.
As we were creating a paper cut out stop motion animation, I decided to create a complete puppet of the dragon using sections of patterned card which created variety and tone. I found this a challenge to attach all the pieces together so they still had a good range of movement and still looked realistic. I was very pleased with the end result as can be seen in the final animation above.
