Buckles often serve a decorative function for purses, clutches and belts but I wanted to take it out of a familiar setting and attach it to a more utilitarian object like a backpack.
I replaced a simple plastic buckle that was originally on the backpack with a buckle that expressed more of a personality, more of a unique attitude while maintaining its functionality.
The main design was a casting of my own lips plated in gold. And it transformed a bland black backpack into a one of a kind piece; also, the lips serve as a mark that the back pack is MINE!
