Kinderdijk (Children dike) is a Dutch village located in the western part of the Netherlands.
There are a total of 19 windmills build very close to each other, it's the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands. It's also one of the best-known tourist sites.

Due to problems with the water in the 13th century it was decided to build the windmills to make sure the water level was kept low enough to prevent flooding. To date some of the windmills are still used for this purpose.
