Kamiko Paper Coat

This Kamiko paper coat was my final project for the Rhode Island School of Design Wintersession Paper making and temples course held in Japan. All of the paper that was used to construct the coat was handmade, using kozu fiber. Traditional shibori techniques were used for the blue coloring.
The Kamiko coat was constructed by thread and needle, as well as with contact cement.
The Kamiko paper coat is water-resistant, more durable, and more resistant to friction. The paper coat was treated with various paper treatment agents that give the paper its wet strength.
