Thanks for the Methane - Waste Segregation Campaign

Brief -
Develop and design a campaign that will inculcate the habit of waste segregation, encourage recycling, and spread awareness about the importance of proper waste management in urban areas like the district of Colombo.

Solution -
To inform and educate the target audience on how global warming is accelerated by improper waste management and how they can contribute to stop this from happenning. This will be done through a series of posters that will direct viewers to a website that will inform them on what is going on.

Concept -
Methane also known as CH4 is a green house gas released when garbage decomposes. Methane is four times potent than carbon dioxide and as a result is a serious threat in terms of causing climate change and global warming.

The primary target audience would be heads of households as they make the foremost decisions on waste segregation. A series of posters have been designed to depict how global warming will effect Sri Lanka's future. This is to create a curiosity through a sense of insercurity which will make the viewer question as to why and how this will happen. Each poster contains the website of the campaign "www.ch4isbad.com" which will inform on how waste segregation can solve this problem.

The posters are to be published on newspapers as that is a popular form of media among the primary target audience. The communication of the message is done under two areas; how global warming will effect Sri Lankan children in the future and how historical and modern Sri Lankan monuments will be effected.

Website -
The website is designed to be a continuos scrolling website with a have a parallax effect in which the water level in the background will decrease as the user scrolls down.

The top menu will scroll down along and the buttons excluding the button relevent to the section in which the user is will lose saturation. Clicking on any of the buttons will take the user to the relevent section.

It also contains an animation visualizing how all sorts of garbage releases methane as they decompose.
