Mural Art

This Mural was part of a course that was held in Trivandrum, Kerala.
Upon analysing the spaces that surrounded us, we chose to make our mural in the balcony area which was to be inspired by the actual evening skies of Trivandrum. With vastness, realism and movement we also wished to make it an ambient space. Using the colour palette of the evening sky we experienced, we tried to create a realistic sky with the lanterns adding the element of movement.

We began with trying to create realistic clouds on paper and evolved our own styles for achieving the desired effect. We tried materials like brushes and sponges and decided that sponges worked best as it was easier to achieve the undefined form of clouds.
Over the days, we learnt how to use numerous shades and tones creating highlights and shadows in multiple layers. We also gradually increased the scale of the clouds until it came closer to the scale to be used on the wall.

Working on the wall was difficult than we imagined as the surface was different from paper and the paint dried a bit too fast but we learnt as we progressed.
Overall, it was an altogether new and different experience. As the first ever mural made by us, our ambition took us a long way and helped us reach this level of skill.
