Museum of Sonic History

Much inspiration for this piece came from an article about archaeoacoustics, which is the use of acoustical study as a methodological approach within archaeology. Its initial, almost mythic, theory was based on the idea that acoustic phenomena can be encoded in ancient artifacts, allowing one to “read” a piece of pottery like a record. In a sense, it offered a limited, sensorial form of time traveling, and I wanted to play with projecting what a museum of this technology and artifacts would be like, both as a place and an experience for the listener.
