Within my work, you will find a duality of a dark, yet beautiful creation. My work is a reflection of myself; physically and mentally it displays what my world is like. I love to use contrast in my photograph which provokes the audience’s emotions. In this image, the darkness of the thick forest lies behind the woman as she bends down in the beam of light. She looks over her shoulder towards the glimmering ray as her left hand reaches for something in the decay of leaves. We do not know what it is she is grasping for, but it must be an object of importance due to the intense stare she possesses on her face from what endures ahead. There is a strangeness and yet an elegance in this work that depicts who I am as an individual. I see beauty in dark subjects: in ruins, death, and pain; I believe it is something that makes us intrinsically human.
