The Grand Ceremony

The Grand Ceremony
Batik (640 x 640 mm)

Different designs of Japanese teacups are placed in a circular position surrounding a teapo as the main focus in the middle. Both teacups and the teapot show the main purpose of a Japanese teahouse, which is to drink tea. Each unique design of each teacup gives a different feel. The teacups and teapots can be seen as a nicely designed tea table as well. The back view of the Japanese lady shows a little shyness and mystery feel. Temple like pavilion was included to represent the teahouse. Lion dances at the sides reveals the opening ceremony of the teahouse. Japanese love to hae tea ceremony. Added swans to associate with the beauties of drinking tea. Japan is also one of the famous countries that are clever in weaving knots, which I chose to add then in too. Most of the specimens I chose represent Japan. The whole artpiece exhibits an open ceremony of a Japanese teahous.
