Foreigner in Moscow. Navigation problems.
I have a character of all my storyboards. His name is Lee. He is Englishman in Moscow, living there for 2,5 years. He is a teacher. Every day he goes to the students and teach them English language. Some times Lee has a problem with transportation, because he don’t speaks Russian language.
Here is the interview with Lee on which I based my storyboards.
First idea:
– Based on Lee’s subway problem: sometimes he lost in subway. Most station don’t have english signs inside. This is the reason because he often don’t know which side of platform he need to choose. He may go to the wrong destination and don’t recognise that is happen.
– Solution for this problem may be a mobile app which show right destination in the subway station, tell him which side he needs. App which may ask Russian speaking people, is his route is right.
Second idea:
– Based on total Russian problem: most people don’t speak in English language. Lee had some times problems like missing on the street or problems with recognising place where he is.
– Solution for this problem may be a mobile app which help him make a route, safe it for work offline or working online and show Lee’s current destination.
Third idea:
–Moscow the city constructing like a circles. Centre is the main circle. Then circle is expand to periphery. If you’re use subway, it’s two directions to moving: toward the centre and from the centre. When Moscow citizens tell place to meeting and explain route to destination, they use this terms about metro car’s position. This explanation looks like:” Sit on the first car from the centre. Then go to the glass doors and turn into right, move straight and walk upstairs and turn to right. I’ll wait you there”. Agghh.. It very complicated for foreigners to went trought subway transfer aisle’s maze and go to the correct door and destination. Because this explanation means that you hold whole subway map in your head and know right way toward/from centre.
–Solution for this local problem may be a mobile app which make a route to destination and suggest a correct way, metro car position, right exit.
–Based on misunderstanding with subway car position. I want to explain some problems of this theme for better understanding.
