The Repetition and Collection of Type and Colour

THE REPETITION AND COLLECTION OF TYPE AND COLOUR.

Andy Warhol's use of repetition, collection and colour throughout his career influenced me to create a number of experimental typographic compositions based on certain aspects of his screen printed work.
This typeface was based on the silkscreen painting Marilyn Diptych (1962). Imitating aspects of the brightly coloured prints through the variation of both sans serif and serif fonts, layered upon each other, splitting the three colours used, which relates to the process when screenprinting.
Expanding the concept I began thinking about the typographic layering as a physical form. Which could be presented in the Warhol Museum situated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
This poster is created through the layering of paper. Opening the layers to show the repetition, collection of type and colour.
