Mikey Woodbridge’s song “Species” is about feeling like a different kind of creature because of his experience of not fitting into a dualistic gender structure. Instead of a “third gender,” it began to seem as if each person who embodies a radical gender identity is in fact a unique species with a unique gender. This series of photographs represent the naturalness of bodies that are too often considered unnatural.
