These pots are a few examples of my horsehair pottery. This technique has a process. After the greenware is leather hard, it needs to be burnished with a cloth and then fired for the first time. Bisqueware then needs to be fired in a raku kiln at 1200oF. Immediately after the pieces are taken out of the kiln, horsehair is placed over the top of the pot. The horsehair singes when it makes contact and leaves behind the black lines. Once this part is complete, the ashes are washed off, and my pieces are sealed with Mop & Glo.
