Illustration and design are part of a collaborative calendar project. Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox. In Japanese folklore, the Kitsune have the ability to shapeshift into humans. Since my design is for October I thought it would be fun to play upon the Kitsune with a costumed girl, the tails on the ties of her ears are representative of the Kitsune often being portrayed as having many tails, as many as nine. The more tails a Kitsune has, the more powerful and wise it is.
