Graphic Design Intern for Winona State University, 2011

The 2011 CLASP Lecture Series was a collaboration of events held by Winona State University that discussed the University's academic theme for the year. Each lecture was directed by a WSU Professor who discussed the theme in relation to his or her area of expertise, including mathematics, music and environmentalism. In a team effort with five other students, we conceptualized and designed an advertising campaign for the lecture series. Our objective was to create a poster to promote each of the individual lectures, while maintaining a clear awareness that they all belonged to the same series. Our challenge was to design a template that created a cohesive campaign for the series from such a broad spectrum of lecture topics. Our solution was to utilize several cohesive design elements within each poster to create an identity for the series. We angled the top-right and bottom-left corners of each poster as well as maintained the same general layout and placement of text and imagery within the posters. In order to incorporate variety, each designer rearranged the letters of the word CLASP within the large color-block of their designs and altered the imagery according to the lecture topic. In addition, the color of each poster changed according to a pre-selected spectrum by our team to create a sense of progression from one poster to the next.
