Lucent Bole

As 2 by 4 may refer to many things, I first imagine a material, specifically wood. "Lucent bole" is a glowing log meant to explore the intrinsic properties of wood. The wooden light fixture resembles the trunk of a tree and while illuminated, the light patterns between each layer of wood paneling imitate the natural grain of the wood. the outer parts of the "lucent bole" are 'barked,' as the edges of the cut wood are intensely scorched by the laser cutter to evoke the dark outer bark of the tree.
