Connor Benton's profile

CAD Portfolio 2015: Rhino

Below is a complete collection of the CAD models that were generated as part of a Designing with Rhino course this past fall, taught by Brian James, of McNeel.
Le Creuset mimickry project: Model an existing tray, include displaced food

Carafe Design with self-made displacement/UV maps
Tribute to Eames: Bent-lam
Project explored creating forms through bent surfaces, Eame's designs seemed like the clear choice
Espresso Machine Concept
Interstellar Sound:
Project to design headphones inspired by a movie/soundtrack, in this case, Interstellar (2014)
"Waiter's Friend" Corkscrew Design:
Project called for a product to be designed based on the form language of the Le Creuset kitchenware brand; seeing as their current "waiter's friend", I felt, didn't fit their brand as well as it could, I designed one as imaged below.
Ignis Kitchenware: Glassware
For my final project, I designed a kitchenware series titled "Ignis", imaged below are the brandy snifter and whisky tumbler designed for this prompt.
Ignis Kitchenware: Cutlery
Following the design of my glassware, I designed a set of knives and accompanying knife block to house them. The block is cherry wood with an ebony core and waxwood bowtie keys. All blades are Japanese VG-10 steel.
Watch Design Exploration: Rolex
As both an educational tool for patterned shapes, as well as form-language mimickry, the two watches below were designed to follow in the aesthetic footsteps of the Rolex watch brand; one men's watch in rose gold, and a women's in silver and 14kt yellow gold.
Tribute to the Skywalkers:
As a "for fun" project, we were alowed to design and model anything that we wanted; as an avid Star Wars fan, I modeled an updated version of Anakin's lightsaber, drawing on elements of the original while still seeking to improve upon the design.
