I was curious about creating a structural yet flexible knit fabric. Turning to NASA spacesuits as inspiration, I looked at their flexible joints, integrated material and technology, and soft yet supportive fabric as a model for my bowl. I embedded wires during the knitting process so the bowl would be structural, and knit with elastic to create a structure that would flex and expand to accommodate the object inside.
