Elderly Housing Campus
As people grow older, there is a pattern of slowly drifting away from the public realm, particularly within the context of the city. As they become less and less visible from the public’s view, they become disconnected from the fabric of social living.

For this project, I propose to use the site to reconnect the elderly residents to the public by means of shared spaces, in which their intersecting paths create potential moments of interaction. These spaces include a public program that mediates the needs of both the elderly and the public (ie library, health club, farmers market), a variety of courtyards that are activated during morning or afternoon sunlight, and an indoor pathway that spans the entire length of the site, creating a space for circulation during all seasons for daily walkers.
