Spatial Perception

Brief of the project - To design a space which evokes the style of an architect

Architect chosen for the project - Daniel Libeskind

About the architect -

Born in 1946, Daniel Libeskind is a Polish American architect that has founded his own firms, Studio Daniel Libeskind in Berlin of 1989, and Architect Daniel Libeskind AG in Bern, Switzerland of 2003. His designs have been created into buildings around the world and his Polish Jewish ancestry is a great influence in his work. He is a deconstructionist
who believes in using metaphors and fragmentation in his designs to show a deeper meaning to a building. He is known for introducing complex ideas and emotions into his designs.

Some inspirational  ink and pencil sketches to understand the style of the architect

My interpretation-
The architect uses a lot of geometrical shapes and slanted roofs, walls and floors to bring out the emotions in the buildings and his designs. Daniel Libeskind's designs begin with the social and historical contexts of the projects he completes. He uses his design language to explicitly represent these metaphorically, utilizing other deconstructivist aspects of his design language to execute them. For example, he used voids in the Jewish Museum in Berlin to illustrate the metaphors of memory and hope of the
victims of the Holocaust.he materials used in the building's creation leave the viewer cold and dismantled, achieving the overall feelings Libeskind wanted achieve.

Final Space Design

About the model-
Use of Slant walls, roofs & floor & use of minimal colours i.e. black and white in the model
to make the spatial experience more powerful. The idea was that while going through the space in th model it should be like walking through a time line.
