College Institutional Statement Wall

Institutional Statement Wall
Elevating an educational institution's raison d'être through a culture of transparency

In addition to the Donor Recognition Space, Midori Design Works' partners JC Salamat and Aya Caringal were also engaged by the same college to create environmental graphics that represent their new vision and mission statement.
Located at the entrance lobby of one of its buildings, the design brief called for a solution that will not overpower the interior design or call too much attention. The team created a simple and elegant design that is positioned high above, overlooking everybody passing through.
Clear and on-point, the minimalist letters blend seamlessly with the architecture.
Echoing the building's glass and metal finishes, the statement text is expressed through mirrorized letters with translucent sidings. The built-up letters are placed in a clear acrylic track that is directly mounted on the concrete. This gives a dual purpose of making the words appear that they float, and minimizing mounting points on the wall.
A dynamic experience made possible through careful choice of finishes.
Staying true to the building's language of shifting perspectives, the installation changes appearance throughout the day. The mirrored face gives varying apperances from different angles, while the translucent sidings provide subtle shadows depending on the weather and position of the sun. At night, it basks in the building's warm lighting, an understated elegance without having to depend on internal lighting.
