Buntspenden.de hosts a real time petition against the ban on bi- and homosexuals men donating blood in Germany. Set in a responsive HTML5 framework, the website aims to inform and motivate people to change the law.

 

The homepage displays a full screen LGBT rainbow flag without the red stripe to symbolize the ban against donating blood. With each new petition signature, one more red pixel is added to the stripe, refilling it in real time, until 50.000 signatures are reached.

 

Users can learn more about the blood ban through a story enriched with SVG animations. At the end, they can sign the petition through a form. Their signature is immediately transformed into another red pixel that fills the flag´s red stripe on the home page, where their name and city is displayed as well, together with the amount of signatures still missing.
