This kit is an interactive narration between three essays regarding Modernism and Postmodernism.

 

These essays include:

"Long Live Modernism" by Massimo Vignelli

"Rethinking Modernism, Revising Functionalism" by Katherine McCoy

"Zombie Modernism: It Lives!" by Jeffery Keedy

 

Instead of taking a stance on Modernism and Postmodernism like the three essays, I was more interested in seeing how all three texts can interact with one another. Massimo Vignelli's and Katherine McCoy's essays are laid out in the book while Jeffery Keedy's essay is divided into separate cards. The book contains various cutouts throughout that allow the reader for experimentation and play. By inserting the cards into the books, Keedy's essay asserts its meaning against Vignelli's and McCoy's, creating different interpretations of all of the essays' contents. Blank cards and pens are also provided for the reader to insert their own assertions into the book.
