This project was about an understanding of system perspective and its relation to design. The aim of this government initiated project was to systematically understand and look for design opportunities within the area of maternal health care. The study involves face to face meetings, interviewing and observing the mother at her house & understanding socioeconomic status, pregnancy related care & services, delivery and abortions. A series of strategic interventions were made which helps to reduce mortality rates such as introduction of the Dai(mid-wife) as a major role player in taking care of the mother, as well as community based interventions. Also a series of products were designed for the interaction between mother, Dai and ANM, with basic image based text free interactions. The concepts were generated keeping in mind the illiteracy of the people involved.
