Museum of Missing Artifacts
A pop-up museum for the display of publicly-sourced personal objects

Who decides what to remember? What histories are missing from official civic memories? The Museum of Missing Artifacts serves as avenue for the Providence public to display personal artifacts believed to reveal missing histories about the spaces in which they live. Due to the unpredictable nature of the collection, the display system maximizes flexibility. The existing structure, a storefront with two floor heights, prompted the use of an exhibition ramp as the central element of the intervention in order to maximise linear display space and ensure accessibility.
The intervention takes advantage of the existing storefront's basement by removing the floor and installing an exhibition ramp, providing a long linear exhibition space in a small volume:
