Cuatro Envirobin was a product designed for a live project for Leafield Environmental, the brief identified was a need for a new product to reduce waste cross contamination and to help better waste management in public areas.
Design - Cuatro Envirobin's design was inspired by puzzle pieces which can be attached and detached. The approach that was taken to the product's design was to consider Leafield Environmental's existing product and design styles as the product will be manufacture by the company. The colours used for the different bin lids are a universal colour coded which specify the type of material that can be thrown out to the specific bin.
Each lids differ in colour as well as their aperture holes, the idea was that people can understand the colour as well as the graphic icons which can lead them to throw their waste in the right bin. The aperture holes used for this design consist of a circular entry hole for cans and plastic bottles, an ilongated
Cuatro Envirobin is designed to be manufactured using the method of rotational moulding which Leafield Environmental specialises at. Cuatro Envirobin is designed to fit perfectly within busy city centres, to minimise waste cross contaminationn and to lessen the work of recycling centres when seperating waste materials.
