McCanna House
UND's Artist-in-Residence Studio
This project was brought to our studio class by the manager/head chair of the North Dakota Museum of Art.  The museum was gifted some land about 30 minutes out of Grand Forks.  This land is going to be used for an Artist-in-Residence program.  There is already one existing house on the land, but they are looking to have 4-6 new houses/studios for their students to come out to the land, spend about 3 months out there working on projects, and then they would leave while the new batch of students would come in.  I was in a group of 3 (2 other people) for this project; this is our proposal.
 Floor Plans

To start this project off we wanted to look at the specific characteristics of a space that an artist needs; North light, impermeable surfaces, do they stand or sit, etc... So we started laying out spaces, first with bubble diagrams, and then moving onto floor plans

2ND FLOOR
3RD FLOOR
After figuring out the space layout, we then moved onto figuring out exactly how this building is going to stand.
Now for designing how the interior spaces
