RISD Foundation Drawing: Semester 1

Assignment: 5-Dimensional Drawing
Size: 60" x 40"
Medium: Charcoal
Process:
1. Create a space by drawing in 3D using a 3D sketching programme with xBox Kinect
2. Sketch the space from 5 different perspectives (viewed in Rhino)
3. Make a model of the space with plastincine and other appropriate materials
4. Create a final drawing 60" x 40" adding two extra "dimensions" i.e. constraints

For my 5D drawing, I used Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle of the inverse relationship between the certainty of knowing the position and the momentum i.e. direction of a particle. As my "space" came closer, there is more certainty in its direction but less in its placement, therefore the model becomes bigger. As it disappears further from me, it gains certainty in its location as it becomes thinner, but also wavers in its direction.
