A visual petition
This visual petition was created to help stop the government from stripping funds for essential services from traditional Aboriginal homelands.

Each name added to the petition is represented as an individual tile. When a user adds their name to the petition they are assigned a segment from the underlying photo, which is then dynamically painted in an Aboriginal art style. Once 10,000 names have been added to the petition, the picture will have been recreated as a large Aboriginal print comprised of all the users individual tiles.

The tiles were generated using my generative art engine written in Flash. Each of the tiles redraws a corresponding segment from the main image using the brightness and layout of the segment as a reference. This ensures that the tiles not only work as a stand alone piece of art, but that they recreate an accurate part of the ‘big picture’.
