“July 3rd - September 23rd” is a sculptural work consisting of six enlarged scans of my journal entries printed on acetate and hung one inch apart from one another, backlit by a full spectrum lamp. The entries I chose to include in the work are all written in a style in which words cascade down or across the page, each word’s placement dictated by those preceding it. Thus, while each of the pages is unique, all six share similar structures. When overlaid three-dimensionally, one in front of another, the pages’ individual structures begin to merge into a solid shape. By presenting the pages in the chronological order in which they were written, with the oldest page nearest the wall and the most recent nearest the viewer, the work utilizes spacial dimensionality to show movement through time.
