Project Objective
Inform Cinema students at Edinboro University about the Cinema Department 2015 Fall Film Festival date and submission due date. Fifteen (16x20) posters were designed to be hung up around campus to help promote the festival to any interested students. Programs that would be handed out at the event were also included in the client's deliverables, which included important information for the audience who attended.
Goal Date for Final Deliverables: November 20th, 2015
The 2015 Fall Fim Festival poster design was intended to show the extensive process in Cinematography, from shooting footage to editing and compiling information, the production to create a film is hard work. Through detachment, overlapping and cropped imagery, a fragmented, yet connected film camera was meant to show just that. Our client, Hanjin Park, made it clear that in past poster designs the title and submission date of the festival wasn't clear enough for the audience; therefore, using large diagonal type with contrasting colors helped grab the attention of people walking by. Our secondary element incorporated throughout each piece, was created using a variety of lenses with the addition of the year, 2015, to reflect the final countdown shown at the beginning of films. Additionally, our color palette for the design relates to the colors that are used in film processing and helped give a bold and fun aesthetic to the design.
The program was a piece designed to be given out at the festival for the audience who attended. On the cover, the organization, place, date and time was included as seen on the poster design, as well. On the inside, using the same color palette, typography and design aesthetics, an informational program was created that highlighted staff, team members and a descriptive list of the accepted films coordinated with the student who won.
